The steps, columns, and ironwork lend to great group or individual wedding photos. You must make arrangements with the coordinator at McHenry Mansion so they can unlock and hide the yellow iron gate.

Location: 1402 I St, Modesto, CA 95354, at the corner of 14th and I streets

History

Built as an elaborate library, completed in 1912, it remained so until 1971 when the new, modern library building was built. This left the antique library building vacant. A Citizen's Cultural Center Committee started raising funds to convert the vacant building into a museum and art center. The building was restored back to its original beauty. The first new residents were The Central California Art League, occupying four basement rooms and displaying local artists work. The main floor was developed into the McHenry Museum. In 2003, the Art League moved out and the museum occupied the entire building, showing relics and history about the town of Modesto, California.
