When I walked into the bridal suite at Wine and Roses last Sunday, Tracy exclaimed, “You’re here!” with a huge grin, then hugged me like she’d known me her whole life. That’s Tracy – genuine kindness with a grand mixture of humor, confidence, and love. She spontaneously breaks out in a booty dance and isn’t afraid to laugh at herself. She’s close to her parents and grandparents, loves her mother like an only child can, and has bonded with her new mother-in-law. Family and friends are clearly important to her. When Tom found her, he was wise to not let her go. She brings him out of his shell, and he tames her wild side. He’s debonair and generous and will do anything to make her happy, and she doesn’t take advantage of him because she has respect for others. He looks at her like she’s the most beautiful woman in the world, and she equally adores him. These two are perfect for each other.
Their engagement was a natural progression. Tom knew she was “the one” because when they started talking about living together, it felt right. He had never brought a girl to a family holiday before, so when he arrived with Tracy on Thanksgiving, the family knew she was something special. After dinner Tom was laying on the couch and his mom said, “Are you going to marry this girl?” He said yes, he was. She gave him a diamond – a family heirloom – that he could design a ring around. He told Tracy in a casual way, hey, my mom gave me a diamond for your engagement ring, and Tracy, being a woman, said, “Well you still have to ask me!” The rest is history.
Tom and Tracy held their wedding weekend at the beautiful, lush Wine and Roses in Lodi, California. They elected to go without a bridal party, and instead included and honored people who are closest to them by having them present. The festivities started on Friday with a festive dinner, then Saturday the women brunched while the men golfed, and Sunday it was off to the alter.
Sunday was fun-filled. Tracy was pampered and now wants to have her hair and makeup professionally done every day. Tom was blown away by her beauty at their “First Look,” and we had a blast taking photos before the ceremony. The ceremony was short and sweet, with touching vows. They started the tradition of a “Wine Box,” with sealed letters to each other and a bottle of wine that will remain closed until their first anniversary, when they’ll drink the wine together and read the love letters. Then they’ll do it all over again each year.
Their reception was quaint – delicious food, flowing wine, then champagne tasting on the patio. After much laughter and special toasts, out on the patio Tracy turned to me and said, “I’m going to make him dance with me.” He didn’t resist. Tom doesn’t dance, but for Tracy, he’ll do just about anything.
