I had been excited about Katie and Zac’s wedding ever since they hired me. Katie’s mother, Risse, is the most creative person I’ve ever met, and she did a beautiful job at bringing their theme, Woodsy Wonderland, to life. The reception was adorned with wild branches, moss, greenery, and an amazing cake that looked like it belonged in the middle of a lush woods.
Katie and Zac are a sweet, funny couple. You can read their love story in their engagement blog. My favorite moment of the day was during bride and groom portraits, when Zac hooked Katie, the biggest fish he’s ever caught! I also loved the styling of this wedding–vintage elegance with a modern twist. My favorite detail was a small photo album with pictures from the bride’s grandparents’ wedding.
Above all, their wedding day was a lot of fun, and they said it couldn’t have been more perfect. We thank Katie, Zac, and their families for inviting us into such a fabulous wedding, and into their lives.

The bride bought her gorgeous wedding gown at Trudy’s Bridal & Special Occasions in Campbell, California. She fell in love with the tulle skirt, lace bodice, and sweetheart neckline, The only thing she didn’t love is that it was strapless. The seamstress there at Trudy’s talented seamstress added sleeves to the dress, and did a beautiful job! I love it because it has a vintage feel and the silhouette reminded me of Duchess Kate Middleton’s dress.
We photographed the bride getting ready at Figamarole, which is an artist community nestled in the orchards. I loved the texture of the wood in the wood pile, so I put her shoes on a wood slice. Why not?!
I stole a few moments in the bridal suite to take a boudoir photo of the bride before she started getting dressed.
The bride’s grandmother’s dress was on a form in the bridal suite. It has to be the favorite detail I’ve ever photographed. I love that I can see the bride getting dressed in the mirror.
The bride held a small photo album of pictures taken at her grandparents’ wedding. I turned to the people watching us take photos and said, “THIS is why I do what I do. If their wedding photos had been on a flash drive or CD, we wouldn’t have them now.”
I love the lace and tulle on the bride’s dress, and how that softness looks with her beautiful wedding ring.
These sweet boutonniere by The Flowery in Turlock are unique because of the green orchids.
We did the bridal portraits at Figamarole, an artist community center in Ceres, California. Not only is the 100-year-old house beautiful, but the grounds are lush and gorgeous.
I love how happy the bride looks here, as her bridesmaids help get her dress ready for family pictures. In the background, the groom meditates quietly on his wedding ring.
Is this a good-looking bridal party or what?
I really loved how The Flowery used green roses in the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets. It’s very unique, elegant, and perfect for a spring wedding.
Yep, he hooked the biggest fish!
Can you tell I’m in love with my tilt-shift lens?

We did some beautiful portraits of the bride and groom on the property of First Presbyterian Church in Turlock. The grounds there are wild and lined with big cypress trees.
This amazing wedding cake by Creative Cakes by Debra was beautiful AND delicious. It’s hard to find both in one baker.
This moment is incredibly special for the bride and groom because it’s their first prayer together as man and wife.
The bride and groom chose a sterling silver cake cutting set from Waterford in Ireland.
The bride’s father told a hilarious story in his toast!
Wedding guests had a blast in our photo booth. The bride’s mother created this really cool, unique chair as a prop.
