Port Costa California Bridal Portrait

Bull Valley Roadhouse in Port Costa, California is the coolest rustic boho wedding venue I've ever seen. It's a restaurant venue with a beautiful little porch as a ceremony spot.  The porch has stacks of cut wood and a big rope knot above where the couple stands to exchange vows. This venue has so much character, I wish I could take photos there all the time.

While exploring the area for good photo opportunity, we spent some time taking pictures next door at The Burlington Hotel, a charming Victorian-style hotel with chippy yellow and blue paint and ivy.  The hotel was built in 1883, and changed many times, from a 5-star hotel to near ruins in the 1970s.  It's still standing, a historic sight that represents the history of Port Costa.

Port Costa was founded in 1879 and served as a landing for a railroad ferry, which put it on the main route of the Transcontinental Railroad.  It was once a bustling port, supporting the wheat industry.  Now it's a tiny, near-abandoned, rustic town that spans one block, lined with quirky bars and the one amazing restaurant, Bull Valley Roadhouse. Since the 1960s, it's been a shopping place for antique collectors.

I took this image with my Lensbaby Tiltshift Composer Pro 35mm, which gave the black and white a dreamy look.
